A Bad Day With A Camera

Pushing Through

Today was one of those days where I kept coming up with excuses not to pick up a camera. The big excuse was the wind. The lesser excuse was the bad headache I always get when there is a strong wind that had me popping Tylenol all day. I kind of got cornered by mid-afternoon and yoinked a camera out of the bag anyhow, and art happened.

I applied the WWRD (What Would Ray Do) rule, sighed, and retrieved a camera from my bag with a “this is a waste of time” mindset. That’s what I mean by getting cornered. It took a LOT of tries, but I did get some good shots I was happy with between wind gusts in my backyard. Better yet, the sky came alive late in the evening. So did the wind again after a brief lull. I chanced sending up the drone and was rewarded for it. No point in having the expensive crash insurance for the drone if I’m not going to push it some, right?

All in all, it turned out to be a good day and I am thankful for it. I am also thankful for Ray’s help in getting the images. The best friend is the one who is still there helping you long after he is gone.

Today’s kit: Canon EOS R5 with a Helios 44m-2 58mm f2.0 and also a Pentacon Electric, Red, 50mm f1.8, both manual, and both attached to the R5 via a Neewer M42 to RF adapter. Look at me using a real camera again!
