Once again, the rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated. I’m not dead, just a heavy sleeper. And I have been busy. The much balleyhooed and oft-mentioned travel trailer is now on the road, albeit with issues that we are fixing as they arise. Mostly.

We are currently camped out at Chain Lakes Provincial Park in Alberta, although we are leaving our campsite today in favour of staying in a friend’s yard for the weekend. They are 25 km away, which means we still have access to the lake, but without the $36/day camping fee. There’s no power there in the yard, which is not a big deal as we now also have a gas generator named Shamhat, also from the epic of Gilgamesh. That’s a story that will be told soon enough.
While I haven’t been posting for almost a month because of lack of time to do so in, I have been taking pictures. We’ve been to Prairie Oasis Park, AB, Salmon Arm, BC, and Wyndham Carseland Park, AB, to name a few places and I have pictures from all of them. In most cases I still have processing to do and there will be catchup blog posts. Sorry for falling behind, life got away from me.

Getting the travel trailer ready and keeping up with the problems of an older unit has been a job and a half. We didn’t do a sani-dump on two previous trips, and left with grey and black tanks that were half full. No problem, we thought. We’d do a sani-dump at the RV storage lot just outside of town where we now have a space for Siduri, what I have named the travel trailer. New problem: The sewer hose cap was seized on and we couldn’t do the dump. We figured we’d fix it here at Chain Lakes, and we have courtesy of a rubber strap wrench from Home Hardware. We’re paying $6.00 to drop the tanks on the way out of here this afternoon.
So that has been typical of the past month. Problems and photos, but the problems have taken time and money and energy and left me behind with blog posts. Apologies. I will catch up when I can.
