A Bad Day With A Camera

Melancholy

Today was a day where my mood was down more than it was up. I have a small leak in the fresh water gravity feed line in the trailer that, if not fixed, will eventually cause no small amount of harm to the interior of the unit. Best to get on top of it. I figured out what I needed, but, before ordering parts, I decided I’d best eyeball the fresh water tank to make sure the parts connected how I thought they did. The parts connected right, but I found a second leak under the trailer that was more serious. Well, fuck.

I discovered this during my lunch break and didn’t have the ability to go out and look closer until work was done, but it seemed like there could be some cracks in the tank where the fitting for the fresh water feed hose connected. A replacement tank is $500. It left me in a dark mood for the rest of the day.

There are people who know how to troubleshoot and fix anything with one glance. I am not those people. I snuck in YouTube videos on troubleshooting RV leaks and eventually figured out how to sus out where the leak was. The leak was coming from the hose itself and a quick tighten on the clamp slowed it to about one drip every ten minutes, which is fine for a 50 gallon tank. Minor crisis averted. I know what the problem is and I now know how to fix it inexpensively if I have to. What I thought were cracks at first glance in low light turned out to be seams and they are in good shape. The expensive part of the water system is okay, making me feel more okay.

It was therefore appropriate that the evening’s sunset matched my mood for most of Tuesday. Gloomy, but with a bright spot at the end that made me feel better about the day. I’ll take that win.
