It’s important to maintain an attitude of gratitude, but every so often a day comes along that gives you the finger and the only sane thing to do is give it back. Yesterday was that day. Nothing tragic happened, it was just unpleasant and, well, blah. It didn’t help that the day before already sucked ass and I was ready for a change that didn’t come.
I got up at 4:30 am full of hope for a trip to the lake before work. The frenzied sound of tree branches banging against the house let me know that was not happening. If the wind is 30 kph at 5:00 am, it is not going to get better as the day progresses. It certainly didn’t. It was gusting up to 85 kph at one point according to the anemometer I have for use with my drone.
The weather migraine that came with the wind was just ugly. I wound up having to ring off work right after 1:00 pm so I could pound migraine meds and try to sleep fitfully in my chair. I would be periodically awoken by an especally strong wind gust banging something somewhere.
The wind gave us maybe fifteen minutes of respite for a mediocre sunset image, and then it cranked up again. I said to hell with it and went to bed.
This is a crappy mobile phone image from my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. What else were you expecting?
