A Bad Day With A Camera

Stray Pixels

Promises are important. I promised earlier on Saturday to share the rest of the images I got that day, so I am. There aren’t many. The day was consumed with getting ready for a long trip, making the long trip, and then getting to work on the yard at the farm once we arrived as it was in need of TLC.

On the road again, Highway 21 Northbound, Wheatland County, AB, 2025-05-17

We had some living skies on the drive north from Wheatland county. The image above doesn’t do justice to what we were seeing, but it sure was nicer than the drab skies we’ve had over this past winter.

Dinnae lose yer heid ower it, Special Areas No. 3, AB, 2025-05-17

This wonderful and strange statue sits on highway 884 south of highway 9, and north of Hemaruka, AB. It is probably the best rural corner marker in the world.

“…and turn left when you reach the headless horseman.”
“Wait whut???”

It’s obviously farmer art. Not to detract from it because it is wonderful art, but only a farmer would make something so amazing and then display it so miserably, so close to a fenceline, and so badly mounted on crap pipes or a crap pile of rocks. Farmers can’t resist slipping in a farmer fix somewhere. My most fervant hope is that someone will steal this from where it is and display it properly. It deserves to be famous.

Sidelined, Sunnyridge Farm, AB, 2025-05-17

Finally, the farm. Yes, the sky was that gross. Notice how the grass is swirled? Wind. Wind, wind, and more wind. That’s all you get in central and south Central Alberta these days. It’s so gross. Anyhow, that’s what the farm looks like these days. Unused equipment slowly getting grown in by trees and tall grass. Sad.

So that, plus my drone image, are the day’s photographic output. Better than nothing.

Images from my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. They would have been from a Canon EOS 50D, but some asshat (hi!) forgot the CF to MicroSD card adapter. Again.
