A Bad Day With A Camera

Loosey Goosey

There was panic on the dance floor last night. Well, panic by the river. My daughter Ashlyn and I figured we’d cruise out to Johnson’s Island to check out the water levels and they were very low by any standard. The spring runoff has not made it this far yet. The geese, however, have.

We happened across a spot where a pair of geese were nesting. There was epic, and dare I say, frantic honking as the parents attempted to draw us away from their eggs. I snapped a quick pic and withdrew to avoid further stress to the animals. Fortunately with geese there is no risk of them abandoning the nest.

I was sad to notice that one of the eggs has cracks as I think it’s rather soon for the egg to produce a gosling. I am guessing that one is not viable. Oh well, it’s not like our country has a shortage of Cobra Chickens. I guess it’s just a parent thing where if you’ve been a parent you feel for others in unfortunate circumstances, no matter the species.

Images from my trusty Samsung S23 Ultra as I had not expected to wind up somewhere I would be taking pics this evening.
