A Bad Day With A Camera

Falling Back Into Disfavour

We’re less than forty-eight hours away from summer ending and fall beginning. And since fall and winter are damn near the same thing in my part of Canada, we might as well say that this weekend is the start of winter. That is how it feels to me, at least.

The leaves and grass are turning more of a sickly brown this year instead of the beautiful gold we’d like to see. I’m blaming that on the drought that persisted through this summer, albeit not as badly as the previous year. It’s official, summer is ending.

We are now heading into the most disfavourable of all seasons, winter. There’s not enough light. There is too much cold. There is very little of interest to photograph as everything winds up being dirty and grey outside. Trying to use a camera with frozen, arthritic hands? Absolute nightmare.

I pleasantly surprised myself this year with the start of this blog by proving to myself that I could do more every day with a camera than I thought possible. I am going to try and apply this thinking to the coming cold season and see if I can find ways to get out every day and have fun (with a camera) that I haven’t tried before. To surprise myself, again.

I don’t think I so old that I am out of surprises, yet.
