My collection of vintage lenses has been mouldering over the summer while I have traversed various bodies of water on my paddle board. I realized that I am running out of time for some limited depth-of-field shots with my manual glass, so I pulled some out.
I settled on my Soviet built Pentacon Electric, Red, 50mm f1.8 and added a 12 mm extension tube for good measure. The lens fits on my Canon EOS R5 courtesy of an M42 thread to RF lens adapter. It’s manual focus, but the focus peaking feature of the camera lets me know what is in focus by outlining focused areas in red.
I went with a dark, muted feel as that has been my vibe lately. The approach of winter and the end of fun (as I see it) has left me in a somber mood. I will squeeze what joy I can out of the plants, and the local lakes and rivers, for as long as I can.
