A Bad Day With A Camera

Road Star

New neighbours bought a bank repo home next to us a couple of years back and proceeded to tear it down to the studs and rebuild it, with dispatch. They have shared pictures of their work online and everything was done tastefully and to a high degree of quality. It is therefore no surprise that my neighbour has similarly good taste in motorcycles.

He owns a higher end Yamaha Road Star Silverado, which if memory serves is around 1670 cc and would either be a 2013 or 2014 (I think). It’s a hella nice ride and whips the tail off anything Harley Davidson has ever put on the road. Harleys are for people who want to get wrench time with their bike. You buy a Yammer Hammer if you want road time with it instead.

The bike in question has classic lines and just the right amount of chome without getting tacky. It puts out a nice, beefy rumble you’d expect from a road machine this size. It’s loud enough to let you know it’s there but not so loud you want it to go away (another Harley problem).

I used to ride in the past and liked it, but I’m not sure I’d want to take it up again in my fifties. I still like to look, though, and the neighbour’s Road Star is easy on my eyes.

Camera used was my Canon EOS R5 with a Neweer adjustable ND filter in the EF adapter and a Canon EF L USM 85mm f1.2 lens for that super shallow depth of field.
