The problem with being a prolific photographer is … being a prolific photographer. I came back from my vacation on July 15th with a lot of images. Over 2,000 of them. It’s taking me a while to sort through them and share them here. This post is the last with images from July 11th, 2024. I still have July 12th, 13th, 14th… Oy to the vey.
We had stopped at Three Valley Lake in Three Valley Gap, BC, during a trip in 2019. My daughter, then 17, had some fun playing in the lake just to the side of a boat launch we found. We were looking to recreate that moment on this trip, but some moron missed the turnoff. (We’re not mentioning names, but his initials are Sean McCormick.)
I took the next exit and it turned out to be a better choice anyhow. Rutherford Beach is rather nice and we had an enjoyable, quiet moment there. A few moments, actually, but no more. The temperature tipped 36C as we passed through Three Valley Gap and standing outside in the sun was just gruelling.
My daughter had some fun posing for pics and playing in the water. She hates me posting her pictures online, but I’m doing it anyway today because it’s a good memory, and I am also so very proud of her and can’t show her off enough.
We joked about how we sure can pick the best times to take a vacation as we were sweating buckets (our previous trips were choked out by forest fire smoke), but it turns out in hindsight that we did pick the best time. Forest fires have been tearing through BC since a day or so after we left for home and a good chunk of the BC-95 highway that we used to get from Salmon Arm to Radium was closed because of fire on both sides this past week. We’re feeling pretty lucky now.
We had hoped to return to the lake and paddle board on it on the trip back, but it didn’t happen. We’re going to try and go out again next summer and we are for sure launching our boards on Three Valley Lake.
Images made with my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra mobile phone. It was too hot to try and dig out the 50D at that point. Oooooof.
