There are lilacs in my front yard. There are ducklings and goslings in the canal. I really should have been photographing those using a different camera, but for some reason I was drawn to my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50. It is a used camera I purchased back in February with the hope of wielding it to take some pictures for Ray, but that did not work out as it arrived on the day he passed.
Anyhow, I busted out the Lumix and then I went hunting for green foliage around town. I wanted more images to use for experimenting with the False Colour, Faux Infrared Photoshop action I made over the winter. It works by flipping colour channels, adjusting the tint, and jacking the image contrast.
The results of using the action are intended to be reminiscent of using Kodak’s legendary and long discontinued Aerochrome film. The action can also be used to create a more conventional B&W image that targets the green RGB channel when bumping brightness.
I am having a lot of fun with it. Even better, I like how it works with noisy images, which the Panasonic Lumix produces in spades in images over 200 ISO. I wound up leaving the natural sensor noise in most of the images from today.
It’s always nice to head in a different direction, which is what I did today. Maybe tomorrow I’ll get back to the lilacs and ducklings and shoot things in a more conventional manner.
Maybe.
Today’s camera was my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50.
