My daughter went to the Remembrance Day ceremony downtown at The Legion to get some pictures. I thought about it, then remembered there would be people there. I dealt with that knowledge the way I normally deal with a crowd. I poured another cup of tea and settled back deeper into my chair.

I did eventually emerge from the safety of my home to seek out fresh pixels for my memory card. I meandered up the walking path along Thomas Drive to Gray Park, made the loop through the park, and then strolled back home. It was no screamin’ heck for scenery along the route, that is for certain. The dead season is upon us once again.

While it’s a bit drab looking for us fine art and landscape photographers, it was a pleasant enough day. A light jacket was all I needed and we had a pleasant breeze for a change instead of the roaring wind that seems to have become our new normal. “New normal” was an expression I grew to hate during the pandemic and my feelings haven’t changed since, especially where the wind is concerned.
The good news is that I’m not pressuring myself to produce portfolio worthy images every day now like I was at this point last year, something that did not help my mental health at all. Now I go out — or don’t — when I feel like it. And I have plenty of tea to hold me over while I wait. That’s okay.

Are you sitting down? Are you sure? Okay. I left the Samsung phone at home and only took along my OM System Tough TG-7 for the walk. I used a “real” camera. How ’bout that???
