A Bad Day With A Camera

Exploring Elnora

After two years of fighting to try and get the mother-in-law a meeting with the surgeon to have her second knee replaced, the blessed event finally happened. The wife and I hopped in the mini-van and rolled to Red Deer, Alberta, for the meeting, which went well. The process of getting Mom ready for her new knee was started.

I hadn’t intended to do any photography on the outing, so the only camera that came with me was the one built into my phone. We had both taken the entire day off and there was no pressure on the way back, so we decided to pop into various towns along the route to see what was shakin’. In Elnora, Alberta, it was an old garage a local had bought to fix up classic vehicles. Probably some retired d00d who built up a phat nest-egg working in the oil patch back when a person could still do that.

The vehicles out front are works in progress. The wickedly expensive tires and rims are the most obvious giveaways, as is the carefully cleaned metal that is being prepped for final bodywork and painting on the sedan. A very expensive hobby with some conspicuous consumption thrown in.

Nothing tickles my pickle like a crufty old vehicle that is need of some TLC, so I pulled over and pulled out the camera I had on me. I don’t think there’s any great art here, but I got some nice photos for a diary entry.

A hard won victory for my wife’s mother, a pleasant drive with my wife, and a few classic car and truck images in the bag. That’s what I call a good day.

More cell snap images. Sorry. The real cameras didn’t make it into the vehicle today.
