I turned in my resignation at my current employer, an insurance brokerage, this morning, and then was promptly asked to log out of the network. I’m going to work for a different brokerage, which means there are security protocols they have to follow. An hour later I was emailed my notice of termination effective today, although I am being paid through December 6th, my end date.
It’s tough to leave a job you’ve been at for almost eight years, but, it was getting stale and I have been in a rut for a while, if I am being honest. I’m no longer doing my best work for them and that means it’s best for both parties if I move on. It’s weird how something that is such a big part of your life for so long can suddenly feel like a small part of it and that a significant chunk of your professional life has sped past in a blur.
I worked for what I guess is now my past employer for nearly eight years, starting in January of 2017. I met some good people and had some good times. They also let me work remotely for five years (with limitations), which I greatly appreciated.
However, now it’s onto the next thing with new challenges and meeting new people. Plus fewer limitations on remote work (my new employer doesn’t care if I am working next to a lake in Manitoba) and more photography. Huzzah!
I abused Ray’s Canon EOS 7D and 70-300mm EF IS USM f4-5.6 lens by taking out of focus, not fine-art images. Sorry d00d.
