You’re never too old to learn new things. What I learned this week is that if you find a damp spot full of dead leaves and work your way to the bottom, you can find a few that are still sort of half-alive and green …ish.
The cold, moisture, and the cover of other dead leaves kept this one in a state of suspended animation, maybe? That’s actually pretty impressive in mid-November in Western Canada. Every other leaf I have picked up lately has been brown and crunchy. So that was cool. I will have to kick through a few more leaf piles and see if any other survivors show up.
