A Bad Day With A Camera

Twig & Berries

My twig and berries aren’t aging well at all. My berries? Wrinkled and spent looking. My twig isn’t much to talk about these days, either. I’m not comfortable brandishing it like I was in the past. But enough about my backyard.

We are now well and truly into the fall season and there have been more mornings with frost on the car windscreens this past week than without. This was the first morning with good frost on what’s left for vegetation in our yard, so I thought I’d have a go at it with some macro glass.

I used to have a 90mm f2.8 Tamron macro lens that I rather liked, but it got passed to my daughter in her last year of university to help her with a photography course she was doing. Nothing she had in her bag did what she needed. I actually wound up lending her almost all of my autofocus glass and going back to my collection of manual lenses. One of them was a SMC PENTAX-A 100mm f/2.8 gifted to me by Jen’s Uncle Roy. It turned out to be so pleasant to use on my Canon EOS R5 that I ended up gifting the Tamron to my daughter as I was not missing it at all.

I had the Pentax back out yesterday morning and it was lovely, other than my hand shake is getting more pronounced. I am going to have to dust off my monopod if I am to keep doing macro work as over half of my images were unusable from camera movement. Aging. Blah.

Still, it was a good start to the frosty season and I can dial in things from here on in. I’ll get there.

Today’s kit: A Canon EOS R5 with a SMC PENTAX-A 100mm f/2.8 macro lens mounted using a Fotodiox PK-EF lens adapter.
