The sound of things banging and slamming around woke me at 3 am. I knew it was supposed to be windy on Wednesday, but holy crap what a commotion. This did not bode well for the day’s plans.
I was planning to float the Bow River again on Wednesday afternoon and there was a group of about eight of us planning to go. Checking Facebook around 5 am showed that we were down to seven people because of concern over the wind. Yes, the expected temperature was 29C, but it was coming with a strong wind, which had already arrived. Weather Network said the wind was 10 – 18 kph in Strathmore. My anemometer said it was already 25 – 43 kph. Less than auspicious, to be sure. There was a brief respite during a beautiful sunrise and then the gusts returned.
I rescued a few items from our deck that I was worried the wind would blow away and waited with my fingers crossed while listening to the gale outside slamming stuff around.
