A threatening looking series of storms rolled through around 6:00 pm with the attendent thunder and lightning. The meteorologist on the news made the weather situation sound dire, so it was decided that I would not be heading to Chestermere Lake yesterday evening with a paddle board. Yes, the fates once again conspired against me.
There is still the matter of my running this daily photo blog, which means that I need to come up with at least one daily photo. I wasn’t going to be getting any at the lake so I had to do something. Preferably something not involving my backyard or the Tom Sadler Bridge as I’m getting burned out with those.
That “something” turned out to be a trip to Namaka, Alberta, with The Missus. We had been to this small hamlet a few years back when we first moved to the area and then we promptly forgot it. Namaka is indeed forgettable. It is sort of an elongated small hamlet with a mix of newer and older homes, mostly newer as it seems to have become a bedroom community of sorts for Strathmore, being only fifteen minutes drive away.
The older homes are a bit sketchy looking. There are no services in town that we could see other than a notary public according to a sign on a fence we passed. We did find something we missed on the previous trip, however. A very old homestead on the outskirts of town, and it was backgrounded by a setting sun.
I had my photo for the day. Not as good as a trip to the lake, but you have to take what you’re given.
Yeah, it’s another cell phone image. Shut up.
