Apparently today was my day and it was a lazy one at that. The morning was cold and windy with the occasional splattery shower moving through. I watched it all from the comfort of my easy chair, napping on and off with my cat.
I ventured out once or twice to get some pics of flowers and a shot or two of the sky. I had pulled out my venerable Canon EOS 10D again for today’s shots and it felt good in the hand as always.
I found myself wandering around my yard once again trying to enjoy the flowers as much as I can with my cameras before they disappear. I’m not the only one loving the flowers. My daughter’s cat, Lady, also likes to give them a sniff when she is outside.
Some fun was definitely had with the 10D, especially after one particularly enthusiastic cloudburst that left everything dripping outside.
I rounded out the day by firing my drone into the air. The sweet light was hitting the trees outside my living room window and it felt like a good sunset was about to happen. I got the panoramic above about eight minutes before sunset and was going to hover the drone in place to wait for more, but I heard the blades of a helicopter approaching. I immediately flew the drone home at a height of 10m, well below the altitude where the copter would be and landed it. Safety first.
I’m pretty sure it wasn’t STARS air ambulance because I didn’t hear it fly toward the hospital in town. Whatever it was left quickly. I kept my drone ready to launch again if the sky started showing colour, but it went dead. What I got was all I was getting.
Still, it was another good day. My kid made me breakfast, I got some lovely cards from the wife and daughter, I got to nap with my cat, and I got to swing around a vintage camera. No complaints.
Today’s kit: A circa 2003 Canon EOS 10D using a Canon 70-300 EF IS USM f4-5.6 lens and a DJI Mini 3 drone.
