I thought I would have to wait a week before the Mayday Trees in our yard started to blossom. Boy, is my timing off, but I guess winter does that. We officially have blossoms in our yard now.
Of course I busted out my Reversed Helios lens. I also wanted to use my vintage 50mm Pentacon Electric Red, but I ran out of time because chores. Hopefully tomorrow.
My friend Rick McGinnis uses his Pentacon for most of his shallow depth-of-field close-up work these days and the images — such as the flowers in his trip to PEI — are drop dead gorgeous. I picked one up on the cheap over the winter and I am dying to point it at some blossoms.
I am busting out the Pentacon tomorrow, for sure. In the meantime I am having a blast with the Helios.
Kit used: Canon EOS R5 with a Helios 44m-2 58mm f2.0 lens.
